Oct. 26: The Screwtape Letters
As we ended our reading of Mere Christianity, the group discussed what to choose as our next read, and the result is that on Sunday, Oct. 26, 4:00-5:30 p.m., we will discuss The Screwtape Letters. We'll be in no particular hurry, so we'll see how far we get, and go from there.
The Screwtape Letters (May 2 through Nov. 28, 1941) is an interesting choice because it's nestled among Out of the Silent Planet (1938); the broadcast talks that became MC Books I, II, and III (1941-1942); Perelandra (1943); the broadcast talks that became MC Book IV (1944); and That Hideous Strength (1945). We can expect to see integrity and interconnectivity in themes among these books.
Additionally, we had some fun looking at The Screwtape Letters as part of The Ransom Trilogy based on the handwritten preface in which Lewis tells us the discoverer of the demonic correspondence was none other than Dr. Ransom. This possibility casts The Screwtape Letters in a completely different light! Great work, Dr. Brenton Dickieson for this discovery!

Lou Markos is interviewed about his new book From Aristotle to Christ: How Aristotelian Thought Clarified the Christian Faith on The Truth Convo YouTube channel. I love the title Lou gave his preface: "A Platonist Learns to Love Aristotle."
